Create Your Perfect Weather Widget

Having weather information always visible on your desktop saves time and helps you plan your day. This guide shows you how to create a weather widget from any weather website.

Step 1: Choose Your Weather Source

Simple Widgets works with any weather website. Popular options include:

  • Weather.com - Detailed forecasts with radar
  • AccuWeather - Minute-by-minute precipitation
  • Google Weather - Clean, minimal design
  • Windy.com - Wind and precipitation maps

Step 2: Navigate to Your Location

Open your preferred weather website in a browser and navigate to your city or location. Make sure the page shows the forecast view you want to capture.

Step 3: Open Simple Widgets

Launch Simple Widgets on your desktop. Click the ”+” button or use the keyboard shortcut to start creating a new widget.

Step 4: Select the Weather Element

Use the point-and-click selector to highlight the weather section you want. You can select:

  • Just the current temperature
  • The full daily forecast
  • A weekly overview
  • Radar/map view

Step 5: Customize Size and Position

Drag the edges of your widget to resize it. Position it in a corner of your screen where it won’t interfere with your work.

Step 6: Set Refresh Interval

Weather changes throughout the day. Set your widget to refresh every 15-30 minutes to stay current.

Pro Tips

  • Multiple locations: Create separate widgets for home and office
  • Minimal view: Select just the temperature for a tiny widget
  • Radar widget: Pin a live radar map for storm tracking
